A Palm Springs Valentine's (Part 2):

Our second day started as any while on a romantic vacation should: popping some bubbly! I really do mean 'popping' too, because the cork propelled itself out of our patio, over two more, and somewhere in the walkways of our hotel; all the while sounding like a gun shot and then spewing champagne all over the beau... We laughed hysterically at this, naturally.

[Mimosas at dawn.]

[Sweet pup, Lily!]

We soon departed for the tramway that whisks you to the top of the mountain range next to Palm Springs. I was slightly unprepared for the frigid temperatures, but we had a good time seeing snow and observing the wonderful views.

[Being goofy whilst waiting for the tram.]

[Climbing thousands of feet above Palm Springs.]

[My Valentine. <3]

[The wilderness.]

[JR found a stump that looked ripe for sitting!]

[Shadow kisses.]

After our trip above the clouds I went to get a mani/pedi while boyfriend had a quick conference call for work. I picked up some snacks while I was out, so our dinner ended up consisting of hummus, fruit, and cinnamon buns, which was okay with us! We curled up next to the fire once again and had a Dexter marathon for the rest of the evening until we could not keep our eyes open any longer... Our own little version of romance. With serial killers.

[Fuego.]

Waking up very early the next morning, we walked to the coffee shop next door to The Ace so that I could properly function and then packed our things once more.

[In front of the landmark Ace Hotel & Swim Club sign before our departure.]

It was so nice to have a little getaway with my man (& our cute pup!)... Although we live together and he works from home, there is very little quality time for just the two of us with roommates and his very demanding job. Now all we need to do is wait another 17 days until our European vacation! Yippee!

A Palm Springs Valentine's (Part 1):

Monday afternoon my Valentine and I threw our bags and the pup in the car and headed east towards the lovely Palm Springs! The weather on that first night was less-than-ideal to say the least... Horrific winds and occasional rain welcomed us to the desert. We made the best of it though and embraced the notion of relaxation to it's fullest extent...

[Lily sitting in the backseat like a lady on our way.]

Like I revealed already, we stayed at The Ace Hotel & Swim Club. Immediately upon arriving we ordered room service for our empty bellies and boy, oh boy, was it delicious!

[Lily is all "I like room service too, Mom..."]

[I have an affinity for eating on the bed in hotels because, ya know, that's a major no, no at home!]

[This photo of Lily sneaking around JR for food is absolutely hilarious to us!]

Afterwards we lounged around in our room and on the patio until it was time for dinner. We went to the same Italian restaurant that we ate at just before I told my sweet boyfriend that I loved him for the very first time. It was sweet to think of how much we've grown together as a couple since then and toast to many more Valentine's Days together!

[Unsure about the fire situation...]

[Drinking wine by our own little fire pit on a blustery evening.]

[Trying to stay warm!]

Even more photos of our getaway coming tomorrow!

Valentine's Plans:

I knew that the beau had been up late planning a little surprise for the two of us for Valentine's Day the night before last, that was no secret. He was being very discrete about it all, that was until we were on his iPad together and his Google search history revealed a hotel name to me! There was no denying it at that point, so he spilt the proverbial beans... We are going to the infamous Ace Hotel in Palm Springs!!

What I know is that we are staying in a suite with our very own patio, complete with a toasty fireplace for those chilly desert nights during our stay. The part that made me squeal in delight though? Our puppy, Lily, is coming along as well! I feel that she'll enjoy the great patio as much as we will. Here are some photos of our cozy digs...

There have already been discussions of s'mores making, obviously. Apparently I will be in store for a few more surprises during our time in Palm Springs as well, but I can't think of many things better than quality time with my two loves in such a lovely place to be honest.

The thing that makes Palm Springs so special for us as a couple is that it was there that I first realized that I was truly in love, as we walked hand-in-hand through the adorable downtown. This fact in addition to my irrational yearning to stay at the Ace will undoubtedly make for an amazing little getaway!
